My Story
Hi there, I'm Virginia, an American board-certified music therapist based in Hong Kong. I grew up in a musical family, starting piano and violin lessons at the age of 5. I've always cherished the joy of making music together with my family. Music has been a constant, soothing companion throughout my life.
With over 10 years of experience as a trained pianist and violinist, I've long been passionate about the power of music. After years of personal connection with music, I recognized that it holds value far beyond mere performance, education, or production - music has the ability to forge meaningful connections with people and enhance well-being. This realization inspired me to pursue formal training in music therapy in the United States, dedicating myself wholeheartedly to becoming a professional music therapist. I subsequently obtained a Master's of Music Therapy, accompanied by a prestigious Graduate Music Therapy Award For Professional Excellence. This accolade is bestowed upon the music therapist who maintains the highest standards of academic excellence and makes meaningful contributions to the profession.
I am deeply committed to honoring the unique experiences, vulnerabilities, and imperfections of all my clients. I value establishing heart-to-heart therapeutic relationships and connections with them. I am committed to collaboratively shaping a safe and nurturing music therapy space with my clients, tailoring my approach to meet their individual needs, goals, growth, and healing process. I dedicate myself to helping people integrate their bodies, minds, and souls, and to find their inner strengths to overcome obstacles. With genuine compassion, I actively listen to each person's distinctive voice, forging meaningful connections, restoring a sense of peace, and accompanying them on their therapeutic journey through different stages of life.
I am dedicated to offering music therapy services to individuals of diverse age groups, including those experiencing emotional distress, dementia patients, neurodivergent individuals, children with special education needs, and their caregivers. Additionally, I provide professional training and conduct music therapy workshops for a variety of institutions.
In my personal time, I take great joy in playing music with friends, finding fulfillment in the collaborative creative process. Attending live musical performances also brings me immense pleasure. I also greatly enjoy engaging in outdoor activities like hiking and tennis. And perhaps most importantly, I cherish the quality time I get to spend with my family. I strive to maintain a well-rounded lifestyle that supports both my professional commitments and my own self-care and personal growth.
